FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE The Tierney Family Foundation Grants the American Indian College Fund $10,000 for Scholarships Denver, Colorado—The Tierney Family Foundation has granted the American Indian College Fund with a $10,000 grant for scholarships for American Indian students. The grant will support qualified American Indian students who show academic achievement and involvement in their communities by providing financial resources to encourage them to complete a college degree. With an education, students can build a better life for themselves, their families, and make valuable contributions to their communities and nation. Richard B. Williams, President and CEO of the American Indian College Fund, said, "The generosity of The Tierney Family Foundation helps American Indian students achieve a higher education and a hope for a greater future. Our graduates return to their communities to serve as role models and create jobs, thereby making a difference in the lives of other American Indians, paying forward the generosity that has been bestowed on them." "An education s the most important thing in a young person's life and the greatest gift you can give to anyone. Educating young people is a mission of The Tierney Family Foundation. Native Americans have a tender place in my heart and I will continue to work for their education for the rest of my life," said Susan Tierney of The Tierney Family Foundation and a former board member of the American Indian College Fund. |
