FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Potlatch Fund Hosts Reception for American Indian College Fund Representatives Seattle, WA (March 29, 2006) - Potlatch Fund Executive Director Andrea Alexander and Potlatch Fund supporter Alan Rabinowitz hosted a reception for representatives from the American Indian College Fund. With nearly 30 people in attendance, American Indian College Fund President Richard B. Williams discussed economic sustainability in Indian Country, the cultural preservation efforts at the nation's tribal colleges and how the American Indian College Fund's programs impact the Pacific Northwest. Mr. Rabinowitz, a supporter of both organizations, recognized the shared goals and area for collaboration between the Potlatch Fund and the American Indian College Fund, and initiated the planning of this event with full support from both organizations. "We have long admired the work of the Potlatch Fund," said Williams. "In some ways, their efforts to promote economic development, education and cultural preservation in Indian County mirrors our own efforts in supporting the nation's tribal colleges and universities in these areas." Founded in 1989, the American Indian College Fund is the nation's largest provider of private scholarships for Native American students. It offers access to 32 fully accredited tribal colleges that serve over 30,000 part-and full-time students from more than 250 North American tribes. With its credo, "Educating the Mind and Spirit," the Fund distributes over $4 million in scholarships and program support to tribal colleges annually. # # # |
